Witches manipulate the secrets of alchemy and make a living by concocting mysterious potions. They are also rich in magical knowledge, making them quite troublesome adversaries with their penchant for throwing poisons, casting curses, and using magical artifacts. They lead carefree lives with their black cats, selling potions to the townsfolk and travelling the world on their brooms.

Overview

While capable of spellcasting, witches prefer to resort to a variety of tools to get them out of sticky situations. With an array of potions, rods, wands, scrolls and other magical knick-knacks at their disposal, witches harness the power and versatility of a full backpack, always having just the right item for the job.

Strategy

Witches are a class-centered about the magic device skill. They can perform in a support role, throwing potions to either heal and buff allies or damage and debuff enemies. Alternatively, they can choose to blast away with more offensive wands and rods, leveraging their magic device skill into damage. Witches are also capable of more conventional spellcasting, but are not as good at it as a dedicated wizard would be. While alchemy is not implemented as of the alpha, witches nevertheless are intended to brew bonus potions from alchemy to make up for the number they will be tossing around. Reliance on magic device makes witches resilient to statuses like silence and dim, at the expense of needing to carry around large quantities of items.

While witches have access to the throwing skill, they do not have the strength growths required to deal good damage with throwing weapons alone, at least at the outset.

Broomification transforms any ally into a broom; while transformed, a creature will gain about 50 speed at the cost of a minor stat penalty. A witch can then ride the broomified creature for an extra speed boost above what a non-witch would receive. While being ridden, the buff timer on broomified creatures creatures will not run down. Spellbooks of broomification are only sold at Rodwyn's bakery in Mysilia; a witch should make it a priority to recruit her as soon as possible.

Contrary to the class description, witches do not have access to the holy domain for a large number of debuff spells, but chaos-element damage does randomly inflict statuses.

The first thing early-game witches should do is craft a wand at the carpentry table, granting them a ranged attack based in magic device. The starting little girl can be transformed into a broom and ridden for a large speed boost. Since a witch has few defensive abilities at the outset, keeping distance and pelting enemies with wands is a strategy made easy by the speed from riding a broom. Witches can also opt to pursue the weightlifting skill and strength in order to increase their carrying capacity, given all the items they will be expected to carry around.
