Beta 22.55

7/21 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Do not generate artifacts for unique characters at concert venues.
  • Adjust targets for miasma infection.
  • Grass seeds can only be obtained from the second growth stage onward.
  • Implement the second blessing of Mani.
  • Adjust the vitality and mana of the "Wraith" race.
  • Change the acquisition cost of the first stage of the Essence Magic feat to 1 (refund if already acquired). Adjust the acquisition costs of several other feats.
  • Ensure that blankets and similar items have at least half of their maximum charges guaranteed upon generation. Also, increase the maximum charges based on quality.
  • The bonus to recovery during meditation increases with the level of meditation.
  • Livestock should not display regular conversation options (such as buying and selling). Also, they cannot be invited to join as companions and should not generate quests.
  • When reverting livestock back to residents, ensure a certain amount of time must pass before they can become livestock again.
  • Display tooltips on mouseover for status effects in character sheets.
  • Rewards from performances should not depend on the level of the instrument (temporarily).
  • Adjust the effects of Magic Control.
  • Clearly indicate the traits and abilities that can be acquired with skill level increases in tooltips when mousing over the skill.
  • Add level-up bonuses for shield skills.
  • Add variations for showcase items.
  • Replace the graphics for Rainbow Fruits.
  • Adjust the status effect resistances of bosses and similar enemies.

[Fixes]

  • Fix a bug where random faith-based ability bonuses could appear when displaying ability values during character creation.
  • Fix an error that could occur when restraining residents.
  • Adjust Mana Absorption and Stamina Absorption to trigger even when the opponent dies from the attack.
  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • To change the gender of a God's Apostle, throw a hormone potion.
  • The difficulty cap for quest ★ levels is currently set at 7.
  • Magic Control affects all area attacks, such as breaths. The Magic Control check is now calculated with the coefficient x increased from 5 to 10, meaning the check succeeds if skill level * x > rnd(damage), resulting in complete evasion of the attack, and if it fails, it results in damage reduction.

Hotfix 1

  • Fixed the generation of Dark Matter Crystals in mountain maps and other locations.
  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Items that occupy multiple tiles, such as large wagons, cannot be placed if any of the tiles are invalid. Please find an open area for placement.

  • Advanced farming tools (e.g., watering multiple tiles at once) are planned for future updates. Please wait a bit longer.

Beta 22.53

7/18 2024

Although this update is relatively minor, it addresses game load-related bugs, necessitating a version update.

[Additions and Changes]

  • When asking NPCs for directions to a location, if the target is in an unreachable place, they will now be teleported nearby.
  • When material transformation occurs, the decay rate will be reset.
  • Starting the game with the -DEV argument will now launch it in debug mode (for testing and verification purposes).
  • Adjusted resistance rates for elemental scars.
  • Using a Scroll of Faith will no longer allow piety to exceed the faith skill.

[Fixes]

  • Fixed a bug where the game could not load if a character was affected by a gravity status effect.
  • Fixed a bug where the game would freeze when talking to characters with untranslated text in the Chinese version.
  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Dyeing walls and floors is technically possible, but allowing everything to be dyed feels excessive, so it is currently on hold.
  • Attacking through windows across walls is currently intended behavior.

Beta 22.52

7/17 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Updated the home questline (post-Vernis).
  • Added two new songs (one is still unused).
  • Added the "Impale" enchantment to the Holy Lance.
  • Impale distance now depends on the enchantment's strength.
  • Speed is reduced to 2/3 during gravity state.
  • Home cannot be uploaded if the name is not changed.
  • Enemies outside the field of view cannot be targeted with the F key even in telepathy state.
  • Dialog options now support keyboard input for selections like "a" or "b".
  • Companions and residents can now take blankets from shared containers.
  • Changed the name of the king-sized bed (the one without a roof), and adjusted its materials and price.
  • Dark matter walls and floors are now much harder.

  • Corrected the doubled quality of meat from the previous update.
  • Fixed weird behaviors in auto-combat and F-key shooting for targets without LOS during telepathy.
  • Addressed a glitch where the animation position could shift when rapid-firing.
  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Residents will stop attacking when dismounting from the gallows. If you find reproducible methods for gallows-related bugs, please provide feedback.
  • The weight of items inside a tent varies based on the tent's material, which is currently intended.
  • Regarding companion feat points growth, it can be reset, so the plan is to allow free resets when specifications change.
  • The detector was originally an item for discovering backer gravestones, so it may stop responding to anything other than gravestones. Feedback is welcome.

Hotfix 1

  • Fixed an error that occurred when loading the extermination request map.
  • Corrected a bug where the final bonus (+5) was applied in addition to the initial +2 when the main ability feats were first acquired.

Hotfix 2

  • After a new quest, if Loytel does not return to the home base for any reason, make sure to force him to return.

Hotfix 3

  • Fixed the issue with the behavior of shortcut keys when entering text or selecting items from a list.

Hotfix 4

  • Fixed bugs related to Loytel.
  • As for Efrond's guitar, in previous versions, it could only be obtained from the development room (in this version, Efrond now has it). We will consider ways to re-obtain missed artifacts and valuables.

Beta 22.51

7/14 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • (Backer Wish) Added "Eureka, Firebrand of Strife"
  • Changed the effect of the feat "Frontline Command" for Yevan's apostles from a fixed stat increase to a percentage increase (up to 30%) based on the number of enemies. The percentage increase is higher the more allies with the "Frontline Command" feat are present.
  • Display faction-wide enchants on character sheets and such. Also, display the names of faction-wide enchants and faith bonuses in a different color.
  • When pressing the F key without a ranged weapon or magic in hand, if there are ranged weapons or attackable spells in the hotbar, or if the equipped weapon can perform ranged attacks, they will be used automatically.
  • If a map file fails to load due to corruption, generate an empty map instead (better than being unable to load at all).
  • PCs will not get very angry if they have not handed over the wedding ring (such as initially generated).
  • When purchasing or exchanging items, mark limited-quantity items clearly in their names.
  • Changed the restocking method for limited-quantity items. Merchants in existing saves will also handle newly added limited-quantity items upon update.
  • Escort requests will not fail upon exiting an instance map for quests, even if separated from the escort.
  • Shopkeepers, trainers, and shrine maidens will display an icon above their heads when restocking items or services is complete. Also, display the restock period in the trade options.
  • The quality bonus of food based on content level will now gradually decrease.
  • Summoned NPCs will not affect performance scores or tips.
  • Enchants that have no effect on ranged weapons will not be displayed in tooltips.
  • Set attribute conversion rates for attribute attacks from songs and rods. For example, with a 50% attribute conversion rate, half the attack will be the usual attribute attack, and the other half will be a normal attack (subject to piercing).
  • Added attribute conversion enchants that permanently grant attribute attacks to weapons. Attribute weapons do not benefit from song buffs and do not consume song buff uses when attacking.
  • Added the "Drill" enchant that allows weapons to attack all enemies in their path, piercing through them.
  • Implemented Lulwy's second blessing.

[Fixes]

  • Fixed a bug where watering could be performed on distant tiles if interrupted by status effects.
  • Fixed a bug where priority settings for some shared containers did not work after adding advanced sorting settings in a previous version.
  • Fixed the issue where witness checks were entirely disabled while invisible (the intended specification is to add a bonus to witness checks, not complete immunity).
  • Fixed various erratic behaviors when selecting items in hand in build mode.
  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Attribute conversion and "Drill" enchants are not currently available as random enchants. They will be added as random enchants after adjustments.
  • Mod rapid-fire does not deal the same damage with all shots; the damage decreases with each successive shot.
  • Due to changes in the management method of limited-quantity items, existing save data for limited-quantity items will be reset.

Hotfix 1

  • Fixed an error that occurred when talking to trainers about skills that have not been learned.
  • Fixed an issue where Eureka would not appear in existing save data.

Beta 22.50

7/12 2024 [Additions and Changes]

  • When attacking oneself, allies with the cover ability will not intervene.
  • Changed so that items must be unlocked before they can be stolen from locked containers.
  • Added a recipe to remove mods from melee weapons in the barrel processing machine.
  • Added key settings for log switching to the config.
  • Mods that exceed +99 will be forced to +99 when equipped. This is due to the current save data storage limitations for mods.
  • Items shipped will not be displayed in the home log (they can be seen in the shipping report).
  • Added beehive recipe to Nino’s sales inventory (available from new game start).
  • Cursed equipment will be removed when the curse is lifted.
  • Thrown explosives’ blasts will be considered hostile actions from the thrower. Additionally, karma will decrease when explosives destroy towns.
  • Implemented the second blessing of Yevan.

[Fixes]

  • Fixed a bug where the distance calculation between the current location and the highway was incorrect on the far right of the global map.
  • Fixed a bug where some faction-wide enchantments like floating were not applied to the entire faction immediately after game load.
  • Fixed a bug where selecting an item in build mode’s picker would consume materials without crafting.
  • Fixed an issue where item icons for category-specific materials were incorrect in the processing equipment information window.
  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • The phenomenon of the PC holding mysterious food is due to pets eating while mounted or parasitized, making it appear as if the PC has the pet’s food.
  • Regarding wish spellbooks, scrolls, and staves, only items that exist can currently be wished for. For example, a minor healing staff cannot be wished for because it is not an item with that name but a staff with a minor healing effect, so it is currently not wishable.

Beta 22.49

7/7 2024

  • [Additions and Changes]
  • (Backer Wish) The "Pet Enhancement" feature has been provisionally introduced. The pet enhancement function will continue to be adjusted and strengthened.

  • The pet information window will now log acquired skills and feats. Additionally, the last opened tab will remain open when the pet information window is reopened.

  • The race "Demigod" will no longer receive divine punishment.
  • Replaced the graphic of the Vorpal Bunny.

  • All artifacts will now have protection from fire and acid.
  • Random enchants will no longer be applied to divine boon equipment.

  • The number of remaining large stones will now be displayed in the progress of the "Gold in the Mines" quest.

[Fixes]

  • Fixed a bug where the skill value would become negative when learning the Memorize (or Heal) skill while the mutation was in a positive state and then reverting the mutation.
  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Apologies to mod creators, but due to frequent game updates, older mod versions may display irregularly or cause errors. If the game behaves strangely, try launching it without mods once.
  • In build mode's collection mode, items will be collected to the location with the resource storage signpost or containers within the range (this version allows it without setting as shared containers).
  • Deliveries (such as tax invoices and items sent from the delivery box) will be received at a base once you enter any base, rather than being delivered to your home.
  • The third divine boon is planned to be introduced in the form of strengthening (reforging) the equipment received from the second boon. This is expected to be introduced a while after EA starts.
  • Thank you for reporting about the black cats. We believe all black cats have been protected. The black cats already generated in your save data will continue to exist, so please take good care of them.

  • Fixed the category change issue with furniture vouchers.
  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Successfully rescued one black cat in Palmia. Thank you for the report. Please let us know if you see any other escaped black cats.

Beta 22.45

7/3 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Significantly reduced the probability of party members speaking at the start of combat, with a further reduction as more party members are added. Also shortened the display time of party members' dialogue (to prevent noise without silencing them completely).
  • Overall reduction in the number of traps in dungeons.
  • Integrated some category tabs in the crafting screen.
  • Slightly remodeled the workshop map of Miral & Garokk's Workshop
  • A shipment report will now be displayed when shipping items. Added a setting in the config to 'Display shipment report.'
  • Stamina for crafting will now be consumed per item crafted, not all at once.
  • Items in containers that are on sale cannot be selected in build mode.
  • Random enchantments that prevent decapitation can now be applied to neck equipment.

  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Nursing and imprinting for baby feats are not yet implemented and will be introduced alongside the enhancement features for companions. Feeding milk will increase experience and potential based on the milk's properties, and after feeding a certain amount of milk, the individual will mature and gain an imprinting bonus.
  • Items such as generators that require more than 20 times the usual number of furniture tickets are essentially not intended to be collected through furniture tickets. Most are planned to involve future quests or crafting using new materials.
  • The number of skills an adventurer remembers is somewhat random. Also, some of the skills in possession are currently set not to be used by NPCs in combat.
  • If you set the container in the PC's backpack to shared and store food in it, pets will eat from it.
  • It seems that a black cat has escaped. If you see a black cat in town or elsewhere, please report it.

  • Please, don't look...

  • Change the material categories for the large cauldron and dye cauldron to general beverages.
  • Set an upper limit on karma reduction when currency is stolen from allies.
  • Significantly reduce the effectiveness of food when affected by anorexia.
  • Add an enchantment that prevents decapitation to the random enchantments for headgear.

  • When a container is open, apply item distribution when continuously retrieving items by holding down the right mouse button.
  • Use the same item details for equipment, etc., displayed during recipe searches as those shown during crafting.

  • Allow residents to be moved in build mode if there are no enemies around them.
  • Add abilities for physical reduction, elemental reduction, and complete evasion. These will be set per race. Currently, these abilities will only be granted as racial abilities and fixed artifacts. Playable races affected by these changes are fairies, golems, and liches. Fairies and liches will have reduced maximum HP.
  • Adjust the penetration power and performance of melee weapons.

[Fixes]

  • Fixed a bug where the experience gained differed when crafting multiple items at once versus individually.
  • Fixed an issue where the identification message did not appear when deciphering items like spellbooks.
  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Roofs can be toggled off by changing the "omit roof" setting in the map tool or by holding down the middle mouse button.
  • Damage numbers can be displayed by changing "showNumbers" from false to true in config.txt. Due to many requests, features such as damage display, free equipping of companion gear, using the stethoscope on non-residents, and freely selecting items stacked during theft will be left to mods in Elin.
  • Items can be split by entering the number in the split window to specify the quantity.

Hotfix 1

  • Fixed the issue where the quest tracker was behaving oddly.

Beta 22.42

6/28 2024 The combat balance adjustments are still in progress. Tomorrow's update will include adjustments to penetration, PV, DV, and damage resistance at higher levels.

[Additions and Changes]

  • Large tents will be made larger.
  • Roofs can now be displayed inside tents.

  • Sort settings for buying and selling will be saved separately from the usual sort settings. The window will always sort when opened.

  • Fixed a bug where stamina and mana would recover if they were negative when divine wrath was triggered.
  • Fixed a bug where items with a non-sellable tag were calculated at their original value when computing family heirloom rank.
  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Vitality, mana, and speed will only increase through racial base values, equipment, and feats in Elin, with no increase from experience.
  • The main balance adjustments in the β version target levels equivalent to a danger level of up to about 25 floors. Balancing at higher levels, both in combat and production, is provisional (though some adjustments will be ongoing). Generally, we aim for levels above danger level 40 to be quite challenging even for well-prepared players. This is because future updates will greatly empower players through quest rewards, companion enhancement features, equipment strengthening functions, and more.
  • Pet enhancement via Backer Wishes is planned and may be introduced during the β period. This likely involves using feat points to teach or enhance skills and feats for pets. This relates to the egg hatching function, envisioning that long-raised pets will ultimately become stronger than high-level monsters captured later.

Beta 22.37

6/23 2024

  • Detailed advanced allocation. Settings for advanced allocation will be reset in this update.

  • Charcoal branches can now be made in the furnace.

  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • When possessing the scavenging feat, materials will also be obtained when NPCs other than the PC and party members disarm traps.
  • The scale displayed in conversations with merchants reflects the combined scale of the town and the merchant.
  • Only perishable items will be sorted into coolers and refrigerators.
  • If a roof appears in a fenced area, you can change it to no roof from the house board. Additionally, if there are multiple rooms inside the house, you can change the room groups with the room board and set different roofs for each group by placing house boards for each. All fixed maps are built using the in-game build mode, so refer to the buildings in fixed maps to see what kind of constructions are possible.
  • Harvested crops from auto-farming will be stacked beyond the enchant level stack tolerance to avoid scattering. (In such cases, the enchant level will be changed to the average value of the stacked items.)
  • Due to the structure of Elin's item categorization, the tree format allocation can be a bit cumbersome (some items are set to the parent category itself, making it impossible to toggle on/off all the child categories at once). However, improvements are planned if possible.

Hotfix 1

  • Reorganized categories and added a few new ones.
  • Improved the advanced sorting menu for better clarity.

Hotfix 2

  • Reconfigured item categories.

  • Prepared dishes and preserved foods sold in stores will now have a "discount" tag. Items with discounts or markups will have this clearly indicated in the tooltip.
  • Fixed a bug where some stores were selling too many seasonings.
  • This should technically be a HotFix, but the version is updated due to necessary translation updates.
In Auto-Farming, adjacent crops of the same type gradually become uniform in variety and quality to prevent the harvested products from being mixed. If you wish to avoid this, try planting crops one space apart or intersperse them with different types of crops. In future updates, I may adjust this so that the uniformity of varieties (enchants) only occurs when the seeds are at level 1.

Beta 22.35

6/21 2024

  • Fixed a bug where abrasive could be made with a loom.
  • Fixed a bug where NPCs would cluster together in one spot on water-covered maps.
  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Due to Chinese translation work, there are fewer updates this time, but the version will still be updated.
  • Regarding the balance of end content (approximately danger level 50 and above), temporary adjustments will be made soon. As mentioned earlier, comprehensive adjustments are planned for the latter half of the beta test, but feedback is always welcome. If diving into levels above 200, attaching save data would be helpful.

  • Abrasive material added to the millstone recipe.

  • The 1/3 chance of honey not being produced in beekeeping boxes has been removed. Instead, the probability of honey production will decrease with lower fertility and increase with higher fertility.
  • The level of honey produced by bees in beekeeping boxes will depend on the level of flowers planted on the map.
  • Outdoor map content levels will be calculated based on the distance from the "starting base" at the beginning of the game, rather than the distance from roads and the player's "current base."

  • Regarding the endgame content balance adjustments mentioned previously, this specifically addresses the issue where, at higher levels, the damage scale outpaces defense, causing both enemies and allies to die in one shot. We plan to address this based on feedback from high-level adventurers during the latter part of the beta.
  • It is intended that damage to mana is halved at Mana Body feat level 2 and beyond.
  • If you can't find items you picked up or crafted, check the small five-slot toolbar for equipment positions, or press CTRL to switch hotbar pages.

Please make sure to back up your game before playing in the Nightly version.

Additionally, many mid-to-late-game content, such as automated farming and high-level crafting recipes, are still planned to be introduced post-EA. Please note that Elin's beta is not the final version of Elin's beta, but rather a beta of early access version of Elin. Early access refers to a game that is playable to some extent but still under development, and Elin is planned to be in early access for several years.
  • It is normal for some files to be reacquired during Steam's game file integrity check. This is likely because some dynamically changing configuration files are included in the execution folder.

[Note]

Regarding the changes to Ether Disease yesterday, it has been confirmed that curing Ether Disease, which had already manifested in previous versions, would be based on the effects of the new Ether Disease. For example, if the old Ether Disease reduced magic by -15, curing it would only restore the -4 from the new Ether Disease effect, resulting in a discrepancy of -11. Unfortunately, it is difficult to fully correct this issue, so a "Fix_EtherDisease" command has been added to the console.
If you experience the above symptoms, open "System Menu > Others > Console" and enter "Fix_EtherDisease". This will cure all current Ether Diseases, and if your status is below the initial value, it will be restored to the initial value +1. If there is still a significant difference from the original status, please adjust it using SetElement in the console, or contact me via Discord or the feedback section. I apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Fixed a glitch where the number of uses displayed for currently held magic in the hotbar would not decrease when using magic.
  • Fixed a bug where the delivery box in the casino was unusable.
  • Fixed a bug where entering an already expired Nefia would cause it to be deleted immediately after entry.
  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Thank you for all the feedback on the early game balance! Taxes and early game balance will be adjusted by the start of the beta (planned for 6/7).
  • For the Ether Disease "Poison Dripping Hands," in this version, not only poison but all negative potions will be subject to generation.
As I mentioned in the previous note, we are planning to hold the beta on Friday, June 7th. Here are the elements I hope to introduce by then. The % adjustment for Ether Disease is something I've wanted to implement for a long time, but it has been postponed due to programming complications with Elin. I'm thinking of a good way to handle it.
  • Balance adjustments
  • Introduction of Yevan, the God of Strife
  • Addition of mutations
  • Changing various Ether Disease corrections to a % format
  • Introduction of Nefu Village

Hotfix

  • Fixed a bug where taxes decreased year by year.
  • Enabled the payment of tax bills with negative amounts.
  • Corrected the display of tax amounts in tooltips on the home bulletin board.
  • Added the "Dream Waker" feat.

Hotfix 2

  • Fixed a bug where an error could occur when saving a game.

Pre-Beta 22.6

5/27 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Investment in healers is now possible.
  • Unidentified items will not be selectable as target items for collection requests.
  • Escort targets can now push companions out of the way. In towns, requests will not fail if the escort target moves away from the player character (PC), allowing for safe exits.
  • If the current map is deleted (due to a bug, etc.), the PC and companions will be transferred to the PC's home.
  • The Theft skill can now be learned from guild trainers even if the Thieves' Guild rank is insufficient.
  • Adjusted the location of the Puppy Cave (for new game starts).
  • The Altar of Enlightenment now has a high chance of generating ancient manuscripts. Random treasure chests, fishing catches, and boss chests will now include ancient manuscripts.

[Fixes]

  • Fixed a bug in the "Gold in the Mine" quest where Loytel, who goes to Vernis, would return home after a period of time. If Loytel returns, take him to Vernis and speak to him there to proceed with the quest without issues.
  • Fixed a bug where farmers could craft shipment boxes.
  • Fixed a bug where the current Nefia would be deleted upon moving to a different floor when its time limit expires. The intended behavior is that the Nefia should not be deleted while inside it, even if the time limit has passed.
  • Various other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • The plan is to ease the difficulty of the very beginning stages by the beta release. Rather than just adjusting numbers, we are considering introducing features or items that make the game more enjoyable (feel free to share any good ideas you might have).
  • As for guild quests and rewards, they are currently treated as passive quests and rewards in Elin, resembling daily quests that are completed without active effort. When higher ranks are unlocked and players can exclusively advance within specific guilds, more interesting features might be possible. However, since there are multiple guilds and a lot of content, this will likely be delayed due to the current individual development situation.
  • Regarding the War-Torn Ivan, faith can be placed in it, but its implementation is not yet complete. Full implementation is planned within a few days.

Pre-Beta 22.5

5/26 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Natural Appraisal can be learned from regular trainers.
  • Methods for restoring backup data are included in the in-game help.
  • Set the initial attribute of the casino mascot to friendly. The casino mascot will sell casino coins.
  • Allow the information broker to sell fame.

[Fixes]

  • Fixed a bug where towns with underground areas were listed multiple times in the home ranking.
  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • The basic tax will increase by 100 Orens every month for five years.
  • The celebrity tax is a temporary measure, and in the future, I'm thinking to lower it and implement a system where taxes are applied to optional purchasable licenses (adventurer license, pioneer license, etc).

Pre-Beta 22.4

5/26 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Harvest quests will not result in a crime if non-harvestable crops are collected (though nothing will be obtained).
  • Escort targets that have completed their quests will disappear after a certain period.
  • When auto-combat is initiated against an NPC with the "Invincible" tag, auto-combat will be interrupted. The "Invincible to Enemies Only" tag on Faris will be changed to the "Invincible" tag.
  • NPCs with the "Invincible to Enemies Only" tag will take damage from attacks by PC allies.
  • When hovering the mouse cursor over the taxes on the home bulletin board, a breakdown of the taxes will be displayed.
  • The zones affected by influence increases and furniture collection ticket acquisition upon completing quests will be adjusted.

[Fixes]

  • Fixed a glitch where the letter received when donating free ether antibodies was being sold in shops.
  • Fixed a bug where furniture and items in concert venues were not flagged as NPC-owned.
  • Fixed a bug where outdoor areas were not regenerating.
  • Fixed a bug where the opening sequence in the Chinese version was not in Chinese.
  • Various other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • To receive training from guild trainers, you need to become a guild member and get promoted.
  • The numbers displayed on items like stethoscopes and love whips indicate the number of uses, not the number of items, so they cannot be purchased in portions.

Pre-Beta 22.3

5/25 2024

The first public build of the pre-β phase is now available. Those participating in the α test can update the game via Steam.

[Additions and Changes]

  • Added new explanations for various new base functions to Loytel's dialogue.
  • Improved loading speeds for conversations and other content.
  • Added several new furniture items.
  • Added paintings by Felmera.
  • Adjusted PV and DV modifiers based on enemy levels, making tougher enemies even more distinctive.

[Fixes]

  • Fixed a glitch where uploading user maps would cause the PC character to reincarnate and be included in the map.
  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Please expect a fair number of bugs from the past two months. Please report any issues using the bug report form.
  • Balancing has been adjusted, with a gentler HP growth compared to the α phase. The mid-game might feel tougher as a result. This is intentional, as more powerful artifacts, enhancement items, feats, and features will be introduced later. For now, the difficulty is set to be more challenging.
  • To display damage as numbers, change "showNumbers" to true in config.txt. Note that this setting cannot be changed in-game since mid-α.

Hotfix 1

  • Fixed a bug where excessive amounts of water were being generated.

Hotfix 2

  • Currency will no longer be flagged as stolen.
  • Fishing bait will not be consumed if fishing is interrupted due to taking damage or other reasons.
  • Added a 1-day regeneration period for the Puppy Cave.
  • Changed the "Strategy" details in the character sheet to a toggle format.
  • Lowered the upper random level range for content selection when the content level is low.
  • Slightly increased the number of generated random quests.
  • Cooking requests will now more likely select dishes based on the player's cooking skill.

Pre-Beta 22.2

5/24 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Added low bushes of Api berries.
  • Added paintings by Felmera.
  • Various tests and adjustments in preparation for the beta release.

[Fixes]

  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • There won't be any special announcements, but around the 25th-26th, the playtest will be renamed to Beta, and the pre-beta build will be uploaded. Once the release is complete, a post will be made in this channel.
  • The general distribution of beta keys is planned for early June. This is to ensure that major bugs and balance issues are fixed before those playing Elin for the first time can play the game, as their fresh feedback are important and I want them to be not distracted by bugs or balance issues..

Pre-Beta 22.1

5/23 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Adjusted the amount required for investments. The higher the investment level, the higher the required amount.
  • Adjusted the prices of taxidermy items. Unique NPCs will have double the price, and larger-sized NPCs will have quadruple the price.
  • Unique and sparkling NPCs will guarantee a drop of taxidermy items the first time they are defeated and have a high drop rate on subsequent defeats.
  • Tax-related policies will not take effect until 30 days have passed.
  • Added a display of the number of days since a policy became effective in the policy tooltip.
  • Adjusted the amount of experience required for feat level-ups. Doubled the amount of feat experience earned by non-PC characters.
  • Added a home skill "Emergency Rations" to mitigate penalties when the number of residents exceeds the limit. Replaced the "Food Supply" job skill of farmers and other similar roles with "Emergency Rations."
  • Set a maximum size for store inventories.
  • Added version data to the metadata of user maps and Moon Gates upload files. User maps that are incompatible with the version will not be loaded.
  • Added version data to the metadata of Mods. Mods that are incompatible with the version will not be loaded.
  • Changed the basketball mini-game from a Mod to being integrated into the main game (temporary measure for SteamDeck).
  • Changed the reward calculation for blackjack to Bet * Consecutive Wins * 2.

[Fixes]

  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Due to changes in the metadata format of Moon Gates, using Moon Gates from the alpha version of Elin might result in errors.
  • Mods from the alpha version will not be compatible with the beta version. Starting from the beta, please add a <version></version> tag in the package.xml of the Mod and specify the version in which the Mod's operation is confirmed. Documentation for this will be provided in the future.
  • Save data compatibility will be maintained as much as possible from the beta onwards; however, there might be instances where compatibility is lost due to specification changes. Additionally, since the game is still in development, items that are intended to be quest rewards, such as Moon Gates and Stargazer's Moon Gates, might be obtainable through unintended means before the quests are introduced. Your understanding is appreciated.
  • Due to the short update intervals of the game, Chinese translations are currently lagging by several versions. Options such as releasing the Chinese version on a separate branch are being considered for the future.

Pre-Beta 21.11

5/21 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • When sleeping at home, on the global map, or in random outdoor locations, the passage of time will be simulated for all owned homes.
  • Every time the number of collected sketches in the artbook reaches a certain threshold, Felmera will present a unique painting (which can be displayed or sold). Additional paintings will be added sequentially.
  • Added tourism tags to paintings and posters.
  • Taxidermy, statues, and cards will only count the tourism value of one item per species (e.g., if both a taxidermy and a card of the same species are displayed, only the value of the taxidermy will be counted).
  • Covenant Stones will now automatically level up when they reach maximum experience (manual upgrades and upgrade costs have been removed).
  • Added initial home policies to suppress or promote the growth of Covenant Stones.
  • Updated the dialogue for the Covenant Stone explanation with Loytel, and added explanations about tax-free zones.
  • Adjusted the cost of crops.
  • Set multipliers for the number of furniture collection tickets required by item category. Furniture related to facilities, power generation, and tools will require about 20 times more tickets.
  • Added a new initial home skill, "Heritage Management," which increases the number of heirlooms that can be handled.
  • Added a policy, "Tourist Protection Ordinance," which increases home visitors.
  • Added a policy, "Traveler's Inn," which adds the quality of beds to accommodation fees.
  • Added a policy, "Suite Room," which gouges accommodation fees from the wealthy.
  • Added a policy, "Celebrity Heaven," which increases wealthy visitors.

  • The Wealth Tax policy now increases tax revenue from the wealthy.
  • The Faith Tax policy now grants additional tax revenue based on faith.
  • Adjusted the costs of home skills and policies.

[Fixes]

  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

Pre-Beta 21.10

5/20 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Guests at the home will now generate with pocket money. The amount will be influenced by their hobbies and jobs.
  • Guests will go to sleep at bedtime. If they still have pocket money, they will pay for accommodation (based on the home’s tourism value) and use guest beds.
  • Tourism value will be set for homes and displayed in the home bulletin board tooltip.
  • Items like taxidermy, statues, and cards will have a tourism tag. Placing items with tourism tags in the home will increase its tourism value.
  • Income can be earned from guests based on the tourism value.
  • If multiple items from the same species are placed in the home, they will not be counted towards tourism value (items of different types are okay).
  • A sales tag tool has been added, allowing items in the home to be toggled as for sale.
  • Guests will spend their pocket money to buy items. A sold-out sign will be displayed where purchased items were.
  • If a spot or container in the spot contains items from the same category as the sold-out item, it will be restocked automatically.
  • Guests with no remaining pocket money will leave the home.
  • Residents will no longer starve if the number of residents exceeds the maximum limit (a penalty to work efficiency for exceeding the limit still exists).
  • Rewards from the home rankings will decrease for homes with multiple entries, with lower-ranked homes receiving less.
  • Some home skills are now non-upgradable, and some have an upgrade limit.
  • Unique policies with very powerful effects that can only be enacted in one or a limited number of homes have been added.
  • Introduction of tax-exempt zones. Income from non-tax-exempt land will be reduced by a certain percentage.

[Fixes]

  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

The concept of tax-exempt zones has been introduced. The initial land is tax-exempt from the start, and players can have two additional tax-exempt zones (currently). Income from non-tax-exempt land will be heavily taxed. This change is to prevent inflation from creating multiple profit-focused homes, especially with the introduction of home ranking rewards and tourism income. Many players may want to minimize home management to focus on adventuring, and the main Elin storyline envisions operating around 2-4 homes. In the future, it might be possible to increase the number of tax-exempt zones by, for example, paying an additional 10,000 Oren monthly tax per zone (assuming each developed home generates more than this amount per month).

Pre-Beta 21.9

5/19 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Changed the maximum level of the Hearth Stone to 7 (The maximum level will be increased further as development progresses).
  • A third land feature is unlocked at level 7.
  • Added "Network" as a benefit of upgrading the Hearth Stone to level 5.
  • Homes connected via Network will share the effects of some land features.
  • The content level (danger level) of a home will now be adjusted based on its distance from the road on the world map (the farther from the road, the higher the danger level).
  • The home bulletin board will display the content level of the home.
  • Added multiple land feats.
  • Added the "Attractiveness" home skill, which affects shipment values and tourism revenue (this skill cannot be manually upgraded and is currently assigned to coastal and snowy lands).
  • When the fishing skill is high, or under the effects of certain land feats, it will be possible to catch multiple fish at once. Catching multiple fish will consume stamina for each fish caught.
  • There is a very low chance of catching a statue while fishing.
  • Enhanced fishing behavior and effects (added random waiting time before catching fish, randomized time to reel in the fish after a hit, etc.).

[Fixes]

  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • Currently, some land feats, such as specialty products, do not have any specific meaning. These will be adjusted during the beta test along with several policies that are yet to be implemented.

Pre-Beta 21.8

5/17 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Adjustments to various settings, including the initial maximum residents and initial admin points of homes.
  • The value of a home will now be calculated based on the total value of the top X pieces of furniture (treasures) placed in it.
  • If a home ranks above 125th place in the home rankings, monthly rank rewards will be given (applies to all owned ranked homes).
  • The value of a home will no longer affect the content level of the home (such as the strength of appearing monsters).
  • The value of a home will no longer affect the tax amount.
  • The content level of a home will now depend on the level of the Hearth Stone.
  • Experience points will accumulate in the Hearth Stone through item shipments and resident actions. When shipping, experience points will be added to the Hearth Stone of the home that last accessed the shipping box.
  • When talking to the home maid with the Covenant Stone at max experience, the Hearth Stone can be upgraded (currently up to level 5).
  • The current effects of the Hearth Stone will be displayed in the tooltip on the home bulletin board. Upgrade effects will also be shown in the upgrade dialogue.
  • Added management and food supply to the initial skills of a home. Management, food supply, and construction skills cannot be upgraded with gold bars (instead, they are enhanced through Hearth Stone upgrades).
  • Added land traits (features that give specialties or growth tendencies to the land). Each obtainable land will have unique land traits randomly set (fixed for starting maps).
  • When on obtainable land, the land traits set for that land will be displayed next to the map name. They can also be checked from the "Locations" section of the journal.
  • The benefits from leveling up the Hearth Stone will change according to the land traits.
  • Additional land traits will be unlocked by leveling up the Hearth Stone.
  • Tax amounts will be calculated based on (a small fixed amount + adjustment for notoriety + adjustment for elapsed months + adjustments for special adventurer licenses and other optional features + additional taxes).
  • Resident taxes, ranking rewards, and (guild, etc.) salaries from each home will be consolidated into a single package and mailed monthly to the player's current home.
  • Players can make additional tax payments to Mysilia through the home maid or the secretary in Mysilia territory. Return gifts from Mysilia will be given only when additional taxes are paid.

  • Adjusted the calculation formulas for maximum HP, MP, and stamina.
  • The number of gold bars required for land expansion will now increase according to the size of the land.

[Fixes]

  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • With this adjustment, unlike before, the more homes you have and the higher their value, the more benefits the player will receive. The balance of taxes and other elements will be revised and adjusted throughout the beta.

Pre-Beta 21.7

5/11 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • You can now change icons on the home global map directly from the home board.
  • Residents and party members will now retrieve and equip items from the shared container at home.
  • Party members can now retrieve and equip items from the shared container in the player's inventory.
  • Residents and party members will store unnecessary equipment in the shared container.
  • In the Adventurer Rankings, icons will now be displayed to make it easier to identify PCs and their companions.
  • Non-PCs will now have a significantly lower chance of catching rare items like small medals while fishing.
  • The first growth stage of trees will no longer use the common sapling graphic.

[Fixes]

  • Fixed a glitch where the item guide display would be misaligned when trying to place items on furniture that has had its height altered.
  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • With the completion of "Gold Beneath," I can finally start reforming the home system. This home system reform, along with the store and museum operations system if possible, is scheduled to conclude the content planned for the pre-beta.
  • As for the Backer Wishes "Village of Nefu" and "Yevan of Strife," I have already started work on them, but completion may be pushed to after the beta release. I appreciate your understanding in this.

  • Fixed a bug where you could not enter the map and would freeze when fast traveling in a transformed state.
  • Fixed a glitch where the equipment icon remained on the previously equipped fishing bait after changing baits.
  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • When placing house boards and room boards in build mode, they are installed in an invisible state by default. The invisible flag can be toggled in build mode.
  • It took longer than I expected, "The Gold Beneath" quest is finally finished. It seems developing quests and scenarios takes the longest in Elin, as it involves creating dialogues, settings, and translations. In the beta, I plan to gradually introduce subquests.

Pre-Beta 21.5

5/2 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Introduction of Home Town Rankings, setting zone values for rankings in each zone.

  • Fixed a bug where agents (virtual characters for build mode) could die from overwork.
  • Other minor fixes and adjustments.

[Notes]

  • The home quest line (Vernis's quest) is still a few days away from completion. Since quest lines involve dialogue, they take the longest to complete. Please understand that the content of update logs may be limited during this time.

Pre-Beta 21.4

4/25 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Tinker's camp is now treated as a town (where quests can be accepted).
  • Added "bulk order" random quests.

  • The minimum content level of outdoor maps now depends on fame (including during ambush).
  • Introduced a new type of item with very long-lasting(several days) buff effects called "perfume" (perfume effects can use the same system as potions and scrolls, so future additions may include perfumes that extend existing buffs over long durations).
  • Added various perfumes that affect encounters on the global map (such as monster-repellent, monster-attractant, metal-attractant) and made them exchangeable at casinos.

[Notes]

The pre-beta development is progressing well, and I'm planning to start significant changes to the home and tax systems from next month, aiming to begin the beta in early June. There may be a pre-beta build release for alpha players around the end of next month for testing purposes.

Pre-Beta 21.3

4/23 2024

[Additions and Changes]

  • Multiple quests can now be tracked in the quest tracker. Improvements made to the UI and usability of the quest tracker.
  • If you die in a request instance zone, the request will fail even if the completion conditions have been met.
  • Adjustments made to the amount of fame gained. Fame now clearly plays a role in determining the level of content generated through requests (Content Level = Fame/100). Requests that depend on fame to determine difficulty will clearly state the content level determined by fame.

  • Certain requests will only appear if your fame has reached a certain threshold.

  • Home will predominantly feature procurement, delivery, and cooking requests.
  • A large number of variations added to request descriptions (many imported and revised from Elona).

  • Unique NPCs will throw double the tips during performances.
  • Added rides that can also run on tracks as minecarts.

  • Some guild services will not be available until reaching specific ranks.
