Known by the alias "Lunar" or "Moonlit Kins", Succubi are said to appear by one's beside on beautiful moonlit nights, tempting humans with their allure. The really of this is whether the moon is out or not, night or day, they simply adore pleasurable experiences. They possess both high charisma and magic, growing stronger by indulging in sensations of pleasure.

Overview

Succubi have the highest charisma among the playable races. If you make full use of your unique abilities to gain favor with others and captivate others with your charm, you will be able to recruit many NPCs. Charisma is also the attribute used for summoning and mind domain magic. While succubi are slightly lower in life, they have high mana, magic, and perception. The base skill potential bonuses they gain lean towards casting with literacy and meditation, while symbiosis is a skill for protecting an ally that also happens to train charisma when used. Therefore, they are geared towards using magic (possibly mind domain) or ranged weapons from a distance while screening enemies with allies or summons. However, it is important to note that the succubus' willpower is the lowest among all races, and is so low that it can even lose to a snail at the start of the game.

Abilities

Seduction

Succubi have a unique ability to "seduce" sleeping creatures as well as asking drunk creatures if they want "a little tail tonight" like all other races.

Seduction can work on any sleeping non-hostile creature, and unlike asking a drunk for tail tonight, seduction has no karma penalty. Having a good time with a drunk or seducing a sleeping character trains charisma, endurance, and will, but succubi also gain a potential bonus based on the victim's highest stat.

Succubi are immune to the insanity or status conditions that other races suffer from when having a good time (although their partners will still become unsteady) . Sleep is a condition that lasts a certain number of turns and seduction does not cancel out sleep, so it is possible to seduce the same character repeatedly before they wake up. The amount of SP sleeping with a creature takes is based upon the level difference between the two parties. So long as you can find sleeping characters, seduction can be spammed for potential and training in attributes until you run out of SP.

Dream Larva

When a succubus uses the "Dream Larva" ability, it will sneak a dream larva into the target's belongings. NPCs with a dream larva, like mothers (NPCs of the succubus race,) will teleport to the space of sleeping creatures in order to seduce them. The dream larva will disappear once the effect is activated. Note that since dream larvae are edible items, they may be eaten by NPCs before the effect is activated.

Dream Larva in your own inventory can be used like an aphrodisiac. If you try to give a dream larva to an NPC using the "trade" or "gift" command, the other party will become enraged and throw away the dream larva, just like when you are given an aphrodisiac. Dream Larva have an aphrodisiac effect only when mixed with food, and have no effect when thrown at someone or eaten as is.

However, if you use the blend command by middle-clicking on the dream larva and mix dream larvae into food, it will add the [bug mix] trait to the food. If an NPC consumes food with [bug mix], they will gain affinity for you per level of [bug mix], and adds a rather small chance of producing milk or eggs.

This is a similar effect to that love potions give. However, love potions can only be bought rarely from drug dealers or vending machines etc., but succubi can produce more dream larva straight from the start of the game any time they're willing to spend around 30SP to make another one.

Strategy

Since will is important for resisting status conditions, gaining more HP, MP, SP, and increases the power of blessing spells that aid allies, it is an attribute you may wish to focus improvement upon early.

Seduction gives succubi a unique ability to supplement the training of their ability scores with a means besides food, which can be particularly useful early in the game, before you can set up a farm and develop seeds.

Since the primary limit on how quickly you can train attributes with food is needing to pass time, such as by sleeping, which is gated by needing to reduce your SP enough to be "tired" enough to go to sleep. Having an ability that lets your character spend SP quickly and thus need to go to sleep again sets itself up to allow you to train attributes at a very rapid pace for as long as you have the food and willingness to find more NPCs to seduce. Endurance and charisma in particular can be trained with extreme ease this way, and with heavy use of seduction, a succubus can wind up with much higher endurance than their other physical attributes that can counteract the negatives of lower starting life.

Also, like with seduction, succubi have much earlier access to a means of significantly increasing affinity by simply giving aphrodisiac-laced treats out to NPCs, which allows them to recruit new allies if they have high enough charisma. This can make recruitment significantly easier in the early game, and further lends itself to the concept that succubi are meant to be charismatic leaders and "petmancers." Even for characters that are already allies, giving them [bug mix] food increases affinity, and high affinity increases the rate at which allies gain levels and feat points, plus the milk of high-leveled allies can be used on babies so there is value in giving even them [bug mix] food.

Suggested Classes

For a succubus, we recommend a magic-based occupation, especially one that relies on charisma.
