Elin:Appraising
Appraising allows you to passively identify items in your inventory.
Overview
The appraising skill can be learned from the trainer in Tinker's Camp or Noyel.
Most of the loot the player picks up will be unidentified, preventing them from determining information about the object and reducing their selling price until it has been identified. Mages can be paid a fee to identify items, but learning how to appraise objects yourself can save both time and money.
Once the player has learned the appraising skill, they have a chance to attempt to identify unknown items in their inventory every turn. At level 20, the player learns how to identify up to 'Good' tier items.
Miracle and Godly Items
Miracle and Godly items cannot be identified with appraising, but the player can use identify rods, scrolls and spells to determine their characteristics. Godly objects require the higher tier variant *Identify*. The *Identify* spell cannot be obtained without the Mana Battery Ether Disease, but is available in rod and scroll form.
Speaking to a mage and choosing the option 'I need you to identify an artifact.' can also identify Miracle and Godly items if the player pays the fee.
Training Appraising
The simplest method to train appraising is to simply collect loot from Nefia and walk around until the objects have been identified. Scrolls and potions are good items for this, as they're lightweight and capable of stacking.
A method of power leveling appraising is to collect unidentified bottles of dirty water from the chemical collection points from the floors of Machinarium Nefia. Once all the bottles have been identified, they can be hammered to empty them. Using the empty bottles on a water source will fill them with a random, unidentified potion. This method can be looped until the player grows tired or too many bottles have been destroyed from disassembly.
