On regular maps, defeating the owner of the Al'ud will cause them to drop it. However, the NPCs at the party venue do not drop items, so you must steal it.
While equipped, you cannot use it as an instrument. To play the Al'ud, right-click on an unequipped one and select “Grab”.
- Note that the penalty to music skill remains in effect even when used as an instrument. If you truly dislike throwing stones, you might have no choice but to practice diligently without relying on this.
