|}There are two main standards of value for offerings, either variable in weight or fixed value.
|}

The quality and price of items and the rarity of equipment such as miracle and godly do not affect the value of offerings, but the value of food is significantly reduced when it decays. Whether the improvement value of crops affects the value of offerings is currently under investigation.
To gain a single level of piety, a total of 1500 offering value need to be offered. Each point of offering value will be converted to 2/3 point of piety experiences. 1000 piety experience is required to level up piety by 1.

'''Static value(Books and rods)'''
All items are valued based on weight.

Books and rods are supposed to have the following values, regardless of the number of uses remaining, type, or deciphering status.
The offering value of each item is equal to 100 times their weight in s (100 points per 1.0s). The weight of item, except corpses, less than 0.5s will count as 0.5s.

Magic books: +4, Ancient Books and Naughty Books: +5, Rods: +3
However, nameless corpses obtained by dismantling items with a hammer are severely diminished in value (1/10). Rotten corpses will have another 1/10 modifier to their value.

'''Depends on weight'''
The minimum offering value '''per item''' for meat is 1, for other categories is 50. The maximum offer value '''per item''' for both is 1000.

The value of offerings other than books and rods depends on the weight per item.
In addition, offering value of an item is increased by (2*item's level)%

Corpses gain piety equal to twice their weight (1 point per 0.5 s).
While a stack of items can be offered at once, there is an upper limit to the amount of piety that can be gained by a single offering, and if too many/heavy items are offered at once, the excess will be wasted.

However, nameless corpses obtained by dismantling items with a hammer are severely diminished in value (about 0.1 piety/1.0s), as are rotting corpses.
'''Maximum piety that can be gained at one time'''

The piety for gods other than corpses receive 1 point when they are less than 0.5 s. Offerings heavier than 0.5 s receive a piety equal to twice their weight (1 point per 0.5 s).
Each offering can only level up your piety once (regardless of exp required to next level). The rest of the offering value will be cut in half. In addition, only half of the exp required towards the next level of piety can be gained.

However, the maximum amount of piety gained from a single offering is 20 points, no matter how heavy it is, such as a shark (280.0s) or a whale (1200.0s).
'''Specific offerings'''

If the offering is rotten, it gains piety at a rate of 0.2/1.0s, and if it is less than 0.5s, it gains 0.1 point of piety.
Some offerings, depending on the item category, will have extra multipliers to the offering value. This is mainly to counter the low weight of some items, such as rods, books etc.

Stacking and dedicating items increases the strength of each offering.
If the weight is not changed by flying scrolls, etc., the adjusted value of the item will be as follows.

However, there is an upper limit to the amount of piety that can be increased by a single offering, and if too many items are offered at once, the excess will be wasted.
Spell book: 200, Ancient book : 275, Rod: 150

The maximum amount is 30 points, so it is advisable to make offerings in smaller portions.
See [[Elin:Code_Analysis/Faith]] for more detail.

'''Maximum piety that can be raised at one time'''
===Piety ===

The piety has a border set at every 30 points, and if offerings of more than this value are offered all at once, the points earned for the excess are reduced by half. In addition, the excess can only accumulate a maximum of 15 points (equivalent to 30 points without halving).
The level of piety determines the amount of boosts and rewards you get from your god. You automatically gain 1/100 level worth of piety per day passed in a religion. The upper limit of piety level is the same as your faith skill level, and the approximate current value can be measured from the yellow-green text that appears every level you gained in piety.

This attenuation and upper limit also apply to experience to faith skill.
The message will vary according to the ratio of the current piety to the maximum piety. The message "You feel a sense of oneness with your God(dess)." means that you are currently at the maximum level of piety, and you will need to increase your faith skill level to deepen your faith beyond that point.

===Piety ===
If one puts on gear that boosts their faith and raises their piety, the piety is not lost upon removing the gear. This can be used to boost the bonuses a god gives. However, if you raise your piety while the boost equipment is unequipped, the maximum value will be recalculated and any excess piety will be discarded.
The upper limit of piety is faith skill x 30, and the approximate current value can be measured from the yellow-green text that appears every 30 points earned.

In addition to the above deities, Elin has other deities such as Elin of Harmony and Yaksha of Oblivion, but players are not currently allowed to worship them (and the blessing of neither provide any benefits when worshipped by NPCs via the respective dojin books).

Festivals and Gods

In seasonal festivals, some deities are worshipped or motifs are used as the main actors of the festival.

  • Yaksha of Oblivion: Festival of the Dead in Port Kapul, 6th month
  • Kumiromi of Harvest: Harvest Festival in Yowyn, 9th month
  • Jure of Healing: the Holy Night Festival in Noyel, 12th month
  • The Moonsong Festival of Olvina, 3rd month, is also a festival in honor of Odina, the Goddess of Compassion, although she is not a deity that can be worshipped.

Worship and Conversion

By right-clicking on the altar and selecting “Worship”option, you can worship that deity.

At the Truce Ground north of Palmia, there are altars set up for the seven Pillars of Ylva (Izpalt, Opatos, Kumiromi, Jure, Lulwy, Ehekatl, and Mani) and Eyth.

As for the other deities, Kizuami has an altar dedicated to him in Mifu Village, south of Lumiest, Horome in Nefu Village, further north from the Truce Ground, and Yevan in The Place Where Winds Rest, east of Mysilia.

Note that the altars of Mani and Yevan are also located in Aquli Teola, so if you wish to worship them, we recommend that you head that way, which are closer to My home.

If you convert to another god while you have faith in a deity other than Eyth, you will receive divine punishment from the original deity with a strength corresponding to the number of days of faith (2000 + (faith days x 20) turns), and as a penalty, an iron ball that cannot be dropped will be placed in the player's inventory. It's a burden on the player, and its weight is variable and scales with the player's carrying capacity before conversion. Therefore, Opatos, who grants bonuses to weight lifting and Strength, will have a very heavy penalty for abandoning the faith.

If the player is further converted while undergoing divine punishment for conversion or for failing to convert an altar , the player will die from instant death-grade damage from the deity. This damage cannot be withstood even by the Paladin's Lay on Hands. However, if the player is a demigod, he will not receive these god punishments.

Notes

  • There is no penalty for converting from Kizuami to Horome, or from Horome to Kizuami. In addition, you can start your new worshipping with half of the piety you had before conversion.
  • If a player has converted to and earned faith reward in equal or more than 4 religions, the iron ball will come with a special skin.

Praying

The player may pray to their god once a day. Praying completely heals the player's HP and MP, in addition to training faith. Unlike in Elona, it does not cost piety.

If you gain the feat of "Model Follower", the player (and the pet if you raise their feat rank) will automatically pray once a day, preventing you from forgetting to pray.

Also, if you have acquired a certain amount of piety, the gods may give you a reward when you pray manually. (See "Rewards" below)

Please note that prayers to receive a god's reward do not count towards the daily limit of one prayer, so if you wanted the gods to restore your HP and MP, pray to them again.

Offerings and Piety

The player may offer an item as an offering by highlighting an altar of their god and selecting the "offer" option, or directly placing the item on the altar.

While all the gods of Ylva accept corpses as offerings, each also accepts other items. Heavier corpses and more valuable offerings grant more piety. If the player is a demigod, the amount of piety gained is multiplied by 1.3. If Piety is at least 80% towards the cap, gifting offerings also trains the player's faith.

Unlike in Elona, gods do not appear to have favored offerings amongst those they accept. Instead, particularly valuable offerings will provoke the same response from the player's worshipped deity that was reserved for favored offerings in Elona.

Other changes from Elona include the fact that food-based offerings, such as fish and vegetables, are worth much less when spoiled. Also, they cannot be offered after being cooked. However, for gods who favor cooked dishes, the raw ingredients cannot be offered; for example, Kizuami will request "noodle dishes" but will not accept "noodles" before they are cooked.

A stack of items can be offered all at once; it will count as a single offering with the combined value of the entire stack.

When the player has acquired enough piety by making offerings, praying (manually) will deliver a reward.

If you offer the crops you took away by harvest request to Kumiromi, he will accept them, but your karma will decrease.

In addition, duplicates that can be purchased from a duplicate store or Spellwriter cannot be offered to the gods. However, dishes and items made from replicas can be offered to the deity without any problem.

Example: A noodle dish made from a replica cannot be offered to Kizuami, but a dish made from replicated rice that has been processed into noodles in a millstone and cooked into a noodle dish can be offered to Kizuami.

The Value of the Offering

The text of the item's dedication gives the approximate value of the item (the piety gained).

  • The demigod will receive a bonus based on the piety they have received, and the text displayed here will be affected by such bonuses.

To gain a single level of piety, a total of 1500 offering value need to be offered. Each point of offering value will be converted to 2/3 point of piety experiences. 1000 piety experience is required to level up piety by 1.

All items are valued based on weight.

The offering value of each item is equal to 100 times their weight in s (100 points per 1.0s). The weight of item, except corpses, less than 0.5s will count as 0.5s.

However, nameless corpses obtained by dismantling items with a hammer are severely diminished in value (1/10). Rotten corpses will have another 1/10 modifier to their value.

The minimum offering value per item for meat is 1, for other categories is 50. The maximum offer value per item for both is 1000.

In addition, offering value of an item is increased by (2*item's level)%

While a stack of items can be offered at once, there is an upper limit to the amount of piety that can be gained by a single offering, and if too many/heavy items are offered at once, the excess will be wasted.

Maximum piety that can be gained at one time

Each offering can only level up your piety once (regardless of exp required to next level). The rest of the offering value will be cut in half. In addition, only half of the exp required towards the next level of piety can be gained.

Specific offerings

Some offerings, depending on the item category, will have extra multipliers to the offering value. This is mainly to counter the low weight of some items, such as rods, books etc.

If the weight is not changed by flying scrolls, etc., the adjusted value of the item will be as follows.

Spell book: 200, Ancient book : 275, Rod: 150

See Elin:Code_Analysis/Faith for more detail.

Piety

The level of piety determines the amount of boosts and rewards you get from your god. You automatically gain 1/100 level worth of piety per day passed in a religion. The upper limit of piety level is the same as your faith skill level, and the approximate current value can be measured from the yellow-green text that appears every level you gained in piety.

The message will vary according to the ratio of the current piety to the maximum piety. The message "You feel a sense of oneness with your God(dess)." means that you are currently at the maximum level of piety, and you will need to increase your faith skill level to deepen your faith beyond that point.

If one puts on gear that boosts their faith and raises their piety, the piety is not lost upon removing the gear. This can be used to boost the bonuses a god gives. However, if you raise your piety while the boost equipment is unequipped, the maximum value will be recalculated and any excess piety will be discarded.

Current value/max value Message
0 - 25% You feel your God(dess) is distant.
25 - 50% You feel the distance to your God(dess) lessening.
50 - 75% You feel a sense of peace.
75 - 99% You feel as if your God(dess) is right beside you.
100% You feel a sense of oneness with your God(dess).

Altar conversion

Offering an item on an altar not of one's god will attempt to claim the altar for the player's god. The success chance is dependent on the offering's piety gain. Successful conversion of the altar will result in a piety bonus, while failure will result in punishment(200 turns).

If you succeed in converting an altar, you will receive a Piety bonus of (value of each offering) x 2 (Eyth) or x 5 (Other Gods), in addition to the Piety you gain from the offerings you used. However, this piety bonus is only applied as if you are offering 1 item, instead of a stack of items.

The aforementioned “Maximum piety that can be raised at one time” is also applied to the bonus at this time.

If the player fails to convert further while undergoing divine punishment due to conversion or altar conversion failure, the player will die from instant death-grade damage from the god. This damage cannot be withstood even by the Paladin's Lay on Hands.

However, if the player is a demigod, he or she will not receive these divine punishments.

Attempts to convert altars dedicated to Eyth will never fail as the altar is considered empty.

Special altars such as the cyber altar of Mani in Aquli Teola, the altar of Kizuami in Mifu Village, the altar of Horome in Nefu Village, and the altar of Yevan in The Place Where Winds Rest cannot be taken over.

In addition, the altars located at the Truce ground and the altar of Jure in Noyel, which look like ordinary altars, cannot be taken over as well.

Rewards

When a player earns a certain amount of piety through offerings or the passage of days of faith, God may reward the player when he or she prays manually.

Note that when a player prays automatically using the Feat of Model Follower, the reward is not received even if the conditions are met.

Pets

The first reward a god offers will be a pet. In order to advance your piety to the level where you can receive a pet, you must have a Faith skill of 15 or higher.

This follower will be of the apostle race, and always has the faith of its respective god. They are all considered good for riding.

While you can collect followers from different gods, attempting to put more than two in a party together will cause infighting amongst the apostles, which practically speaking means you can only ever use two at a time at most. This conflict even occurs between apostles who believe in the same God.

The second reward a god offers will be an artifact. In order to advance your piety to the level where you can receive an artifact, you must have a Faith skill of 30 or higher.

Each weapon has a faction effect, which means that any NPC belonging to the same faction as the player can equip it and it will benefit all characters in the faction and any NPCs they temporarily summon or dominate.

However, the faction effect only works if the player has faith in the deity corresponding to the artifact. The faction effect on the artifact disappears when the player converts, but the enchantment is restored when the player returns to that faith again.

The artifact can be reacquired by offering it to the altar of the bearer's god. If a game update changes the performance of an artifact, the artifact can be regenerated in this way.

Blessing

Obtaining a pot of water and offering it to the altar of one's god (Eyth included) will bless the water. The blessed water can then be blended with an item to bless it.

Placing water on an altar of a god one is not aligned with will curse it instead, and the cursed water can be blended with an item to curse it.

Relation and Mood

Relationships with deities and God Mood are currently unimplemented systems.

The profiles of the deities and their relationship to the player, with the exception of the backer deities (Kizuami, Horome, and Yevan), can be found on the Religion tab of the Journal.

Gods begin the game indifferent to the player. At the moment, the relationship does not change as a result of the player's actions, such as believing in the god, deepening their piety, abandoning faith, converting an altar, etc.

It is also possible to display a “God Mood” item in the information bar that displays the player's attributes and possessions through the widget's settings.

Immediately after worship, your god will be "Delighted", and after that, their mood will change randomly every hour, but so far it does not seem to have any particular effect on the game.

  • God Moods: Delighted>Overjoyed>Pleased>Calm>Sullen>Displeased>Enranged

The Pantheon

The Seven Pillars

The chief deities of Ylva: Itzpalt, Opatos, Kumiromi, Jure, Lulwy, Ehekatl and Mani (formerly Eyth). They govern large domains that impact the daily lives of Ylva's population and command most of the worship to be had.

Major Gods

Major deities of the pantheon. While not as prominent as the Seven Pillars, they hold sway over sizeable domains and have a good number of followers.

Examples of major gods are Elin of Harmony and Yakasha of Oblivion.

Minor Gods

Lesser gods of the pantheon. They govern smaller or specialized domains which the major gods have overlooked, and are worshipped by a smaller number of select peoples or professions.

Examples of lesser gods are Kizuami of Trickery, Horome of Moonshadow and Yevan of Strife.

Negentropy (Chaos) Gods

Some gods are bad. During previous ages of Ylva, they were defeated in holy wars and sealed away by the Seven Pillars of the pantheon.

Innos Tur'as is an example of a negentropy god, and may be encountered in The Place Where Winds Rest.
