Some of the text on this page is from the Beta build of the game. |
Books are one of the categories of items in Elin.
Most are consumable items that disappear after being read a certain number of times, but books with red covers contain information about the setting of the game and can be read over and over again.
Spell Books
When you read it successfully, you gain stock of the related spell, based on your Memorization skill.
The difficulty of deciphering a cursed spellbook increases greatly, while the difficulty of deciphering a blessed spellbook decreases.
Failure results in negative effects such as confusion, draining mana, or summoning monsters.
Books of Bolt, Dart, Ball and Touch spells can also be used with a Calligrapher's Tool to make Talismans.
Ancient Books
It is an undeciphered book written in runes.
Failure to decipher will result in negative effects such as confusion, draining mana, or summoning monsters.

Maps
Map
The map is a consumable item, and when read it will generate a random Nefia nearby. However, it is not effective in areas surrounded by the ocean.
Maps are sold at bookstores and by NPCs on the Seeker's Keep 2F.
The danger level of the generated Nefia is random for commercially-produced maps, but for crafted maps it is a fixed value based on the materials used (and their value).
Treasure map
The treasure map shows where the treasure is buried, and if you dig in the corresponding place with a shovel, you will find a buried treasure chest.
- In order to find treasure, you need to have the treasure map in your inventory.
- If you only check the coordinates of the treasure and then forget the map at home or leave it in your tent, you won't be able to find the treasure chest.
- Once you find the coordinate, do not enter the location, instead, grab a shovel and dig in the overmap
- The cursed treasure map must be unscrambled before it can be read, because when read, the map crumbles into pieces and is gone before the location of the treasure is known.
- You can move around the world map while viewing up to one treasure map.
- The treasure map also shows the Nefia that are present when you open the map. This can be one of the clues, but if there is a Nefia update, you will need to reopen the map, otherwise there will be differences in the scenery.
Recipes
A memo containing a crafting recipe. Reading recipes you have learned will strengthen your recipe level.
They may be found randomly in treasure chests, or specific recipes may be sold by NPCs.
There are two types of recipes: one that grants the corresponding recipe, and one that randomly grants one recipe from a specific category such as cooking or furniture.
Skill books
When read, you will gain experience points for the skill. When given to a pet, the pet will learn the skill.
Currently in Beta, this is one of the few ways to teach your pet skills.
In addition, the ★Secret Experience of Kumiromi, available from the ★Statue of the Harvest, will earn the player 1 feat point, or 3 feat points for the pet.
There is a limit to the number of Kumiromi's Secret Experiences that a player can read, and you can read one book for every 10 levels, or to be more precise, (total feat points - 1/10) for every book.
Please be careful when calculating, as the bonus from Kumiromi's Secret Experiences is not added to the “total feat points” at this time.
Plans
Get home skills and policies. Since the acquisition of a skill is independent of each land, it must be read in the land where you want that skill or policy to be acquired.
Note that reading the same plan multiple times on land that has already acquired that skill or policy will have no effect.
Title Deeds and Licenses
Title Deeds and Licenses can be purchased from a Scrivener.
