Character Creation
Suggested Starting Races for Beginners:
- Yerles
- Cheaper Platinum cost for skills, and faster feat gain lets this race get off the ground very fast with skills. Yerles have a slight edge in health, but Life and Mana are still very balanced.
- Juere
- More efficient gains from food allow this race to gain attribute levels quickly, allowing them to rapidly double their stats and halve their problems.
- Elea (Casters only)
- High Mental stats, and a high starting spread for skills. The racial feat helps new players manage the build up of ether disease, and also provides significant damage resistance to ether-element damage. They do have less health, which means that the player needs to be careful about range and groups of enemies.
- Demigod
- Balanced stats, suitable for an every-man build. Life and Mana are also balanced, allowing this character to be a solid all-rounder. Useful racial skills for both melee and casters. The feat also allows players to gain bonus stats from worshiping a god 30% faster, which can allow players a sizable bump to skills in the early game.
Suggested Starting Classes for Beginners:
- Warrior
- Simple, Effective, Powerful. The warrior smashes, and smashes good. Yerles, Juere, or Demigod are effective here. Throwing is an effective source of ranged damage, so the warrior can close the gap easily.
- Archer
- A master of range, with a good spread of defensive skills as well. The archer's feat allows them to do more damage with ranged weapons, whether it's bow or guns. Note that the archer does not start with the gun skill, so it will have to be learned if the player is interested in firearms, unless they start as Yerles.
- Warmage
- While warmage has more limited domains than wizard, being able to fall back on damage skills such as tactics and the innate melee damage buff seriously help the player when they find that they're out of spells or mana. A Demigod Warmage will rapidly gain levels in Tactics and Casting due to the high combined potential, which can help the player conserve platinum for learning new skills.
- Priest

Starting Out
It is suggested that new players begin in the Meadow, as it provides more food, resources, and support for the player.
- Do your initial quests from Ashland. After reading the land deed, quests can be accepted by interacting with the Quest Board.
- He will give you an axe, you can use this to chop the trees and cut down flowers, weeds, vines and mushrooms in your home.
- The Quick Craft button in the ability menu allows the player to create a Workbench.
- The Workbench allows the player to craft "Grass Walls" and a "Grass Door" out of tufts of grass, leaves, and a single log. 16 Walls and 1 Door let the player build a small tofu-block house to get them started. Place the walls in a square, and then place the door on any wall to make the building into a room.
- Once the player has fufilled the conditions for "The Way of the Crafter", they can use their remaining wood and stone to build a Sawmill, and Carpenter's Table.
- Use the Sawmill to turn Logs into Planks, and make a Desk at the Carpenter's Table. Then, make a round chair with a Log. Harvest some bones on the map, and you can now make the Tinker's Table.
- The Tinker's Table allows the player to make a multitude of tools, such as the Shovel, Hoe, and Sickle that are indispensable for future tasks. The player can also make another Woodcutter's Axe, if they have somehow lost theirs.
- The Quick Craft button in the ability menu allows the player to create a Workbench.
- He will give you an axe, you can use this to chop the trees and cut down flowers, weeds, vines and mushrooms in your home.
- Talk to Fiama to receive a companion from her. Until the player clears Nymelle, she will revive this pet freely for you.
- The Little Girl is by far the best pet of the bunch, comes with starting equipment that the player can appropriate for the cost of a few karma, and has a full set of humanoid equipment slots.
- All pets and villagers will revive over time in My Home.
- Do accept Loytel to your land. You can make him your maid, which will allow you to expand your land.
- Starting his questline will give the player the supplies to make a shipping box. This allows the player to make money from home, without needing to go into towns.
- He will guide the player to make a Shovel and Hoe, and then give the players a starting amount of seeds for Tomatoes and Pasture Grass.
- Dig the ground with your shovel, and then plow the ground with your hoe, to create a farm tile. You can then hold your tomato seeds and plant them by right clicking.
- In a few days, you will have tomato plants. Once they have fruited (You'll see the red tomatoes), Harvest half of them, and sickle the other half to get seeds back.
- Generally, when farming, you want to only harvest around half to three-quarters of your crop, and sickle the rest for seeds.
- For Food, the player can eat Brown Mushrooms, Rare Mushrooms, Truffles, Palulu and Cactus from the nearby beach tiles, as well as the Tomatoes grown at home. Using the sickle on mushrooms in wilderness tiles allows the player to rapidly amass mushroom seeds, which can be planted at home.
- Mushrooms grow very quickly, so the player can have a readily available source of food at all times.
- When traveling from place to place, new players should remain as close to the road as possible. When ambushed, a guard will spawn on road tiles, that can help the player survive. Additionally, wilderness tiles scale in difficulty depending on how close or far they are from the road.
- It is suggested that the player set the "Growth Suppression" and "Resident Tax" policies at the Home Board, which can be purchased for one gold bar from Loytel or Fiama.
- As the hearthstone levels up, more and more powerful enemies will spawn on the edges of your home.
- Enemy spawn rate can be reduced by placing Watch Fires around your land, as monsters spawn less in lit places, and do not spawn at all in lit buildings. Fiama carries the recipe for them, which can be purchased for one gold bar.
- Grass fences while ugly, can allow the player to easily and cheaply wall in their territory. Add a gate or two, and the player has a somewhat safe haven once illuminated. Fiama also carries the recipe for this, for one gold bar.
- Eventually, a quest will show up on the quest board from Ashland, informing the players of their duties to pay Taxes.
- Not paying tax is the biggest crime in Tyris. If the player does not pay their taxes within four months of being issued them, they will rapidly lose Karma and become criminals.
Leaving Home & Paying Tax
- Wooden weapons can be crafted from the Carpenter's Bench, as well as a bucket and stone breastplate. These items significantly help the player with early game survivability, and are much better than being in nothing but a shirt.
- Non-archers or gunners can opt to craft a wooden cane at the Carpenter's Bench.

Once the player has weaponry, it's time to make money!
Some ideas for making money with little risk:
- The player should opt to sell through the Shipping Chest, so that they can gather gold bars for their home improvement needs.
- Grind Crim into Crim Powder at a millstone, which sells for a significant amount in the early game. Crim can be found on many wilderness tiles.
- Making multiple Makeshift Beds and placing them in a room with the "Open For Business" policy from Loytel can give the players a passive, daily income.
- Chopping trees, cutting logs into planks, and then using the planks at a Carpenter's Table to build Desks can get the player enough money within a few days to pay off that month's tax bill. It also trains Lumberjacking and Carpentry, allowing the player to build and make more things.
- Hammering trash bags into "Pieces" of fiber allows the player to spin these at a Spinner into thread, which can then be used at a Loom to create textiles.
- The player can then use the textiles, along with logs cooked at a kiln into carbone, to make Fireproof Blankets, an indispensable part of adventuring.
- Requests in town can be taken once the player is somewhat comfortable with their combat skills, notably delivery quests between Mysilia, Willow and Olvina, and generic kill quests such as "A little good deed" and "Troublesome Monsters"
- Be careful to watch the due date for quests, as failure will reduce fame, and in some cases Karma.
- For "A little good deed" and "Troublesome Monsters", the player can opt to chop down the trees for a chance to spawn Putits, a very weak enemy. Willow in particular is a great place to cut down trees, but Mysilia has thickly wooded areas as well.

- It's worthwhile to find an altar to a God to worship early, as the prayer skill is a full heal while worshipping any god.
- Altars can be found in wilderness tiles, Nefia, or at fixed locations such as the Truce Ground,Mifu Village, Nefu Village,and The Place Where Winds Rest
- Some useful gods for beginners are Itzpalt, Opatos, Jure, Horome and Lulwy.
- Farmers may opt for Kumiromi, to fast-track the slow life.
- The player will get a bonus to stats and skills that scales based on days worshipped, capped at their Faith level.
- At 15 faith and maximum piety the god will gift the player a powerful Apostle pet. Nearly all of these pets are good for riding, and they all have powerful support abilities to help the player progress.
- Enough favor is reached at around 300 minimum-favor offerings, much less if the player is offering high-value offerings or converting altars.

- Once the player has their equipment ready, check the Quest Board in your home to accept the quest to rescue a lost puppy from Fiama.
- The Puppy Cave is a static, low-danger level Nefia (Dungeon) near the player's home. While it is low-danger, it still packs quite a threat to anyone unprepared.
- Leave your money at home or with a banker before diving into Nefia, as the player may drop up to 75% of their money on death once they are out of the beginner's grace period.
- Some source of healing, such as Bandages, Potions of Cure Light Wounds, or even the spell, "Cure Minor Wounds" is advised to help the player survive.
- The Meditation skill can help the player rapidly recover MP if they run low, just be careful to use it in safe rooms.
- Keep an eye out for traps! Path around them and try not to step on them, as even low level spear traps can significantly hurt you when you step on them.
- On the second floor of the Puppy Cave, the player can find Poppy fighting off enemies. Poppy is very strong until talked to, so try to use the dog to fight off any nearby enemies before talking to him and bringing him home. Once the player recruits him, they can middle click him to talk to him and send him home, keeping him safe while they make their escape from the dungeon.
- Upon return, Fiama rewards the player with the ★Cooler Box, an precious item that keeps food placed inside of it fresh for much, much longer. With this, the player can dive into deeper dungeons and travel farther away from home comfortably.
- The player can now take on low level random Nefia that are scattered through the land.
- While the lower levels of Nymelle may be too tough, the player should at least try to push to the second floor to recruit Farris, as her inventory of items is very useful to the player, for both basebuilding and exploring dungeons.
- If the player has the Symbiosis skill, Kettle or the starting Little Girl equipped with a ranged weapon are very helpful to support the player from atop their head.
- Farris herself can be Symbiotized as well, providing the player with some early healing.
- Symbioted or Ridden allies don't die, they merely get knocked out and recover after a few rounds, as long as they have food to recover hp.
- Dead allies respawn naturally at home, so feel free to bring a few allies with you even if you don't have the symbiosis or riding skills.
FAQ!
I lost my Axe, what do I do?
First, check both of your hotbars by toggling with the CTRL button to see if you misplaced it there.
If it is indeed truly gone, you'll need to use a Tinker's Table and craft together a Stone/Ingot, Stick, and String.
Sticks can sometimes be found from grass, vines, plants, and bushes. Strings can be made by crafting together vines at a Workbench. The Stones can be found around the world map in the wilderness, and do not need a tool to harvest.
The closest Tinker's Table to the player is in Willow or the Asylum, which also has a workbench.
Enemies are too tough!
Try working on training with the Training Dummy that Ashland gives the player! Even a few sessions with your weapon and the dummy can make a big difference for strength.
The player can train defensive stats by making a Fire elemental cane, then standing in the lake in the Meadow and blasting themselves for a bit as well. Being wet reduces the damage from the cane, and prevents goods from burning, thus leading to an easy, gentle way to train up Evasion and Greater Evasion.
Eating good food and taking the time to do non-combat things can help raise your attributes and stats to give you an edge in combat.
Danger Level scales with Fame and Distance from home. Selling your fame to an informer can lower the difficulty of the enemies spawned around you, and give you breathing room.
The monsters in my home keep killing me, what can I do?
Illuminating your map and building walls both reduce the spawn rate of enemies. Illuminated buildings will never spawn enemies.
Ashland and Fiama will always patrol around bonfires, so moving your bonfire closer to the enemy or guiding the enemy to the bonfire will let them take care of things for you, at lower levels.
At around Hearthstone level 5 though, they start to find enemies that they can't kill as easily. The player should use the "Growth Suppression" policy from the Home Board to keep the level of the hearthstone low until the player has advanced in level and power.
There're Mass Monsters in My Home!!!
Use the Build Board's terrain mode to raise them into the sky as a temporary quarantine. The player can gather a few Small Medals from static locations, and then spend them at Miral and Garokk's Workshop for a "Scroll of Extermination", which kills all enemies in the player's home.
Why does my gear keep disappearing? What does -1, -2 mean?
Fire, Ice, and Acid damage have effects on the player's inventory and gear.
Fire damage
Fire can burn away the players items, unless they are protected by a Fireproof Blanket or have the Fireproof attribute. Having suitably high enough fire resistance (around +15) or having the "Wet" status will prevent items from being burned away, as well. Early on, the player can throw potions to make puddles to step in, or water themselves with their watering can to stay wet when fighting fire-related enemies.
The player can make a fireproof blanket by deconstructing trash with a hammer, weaving the pieces into thread (Spinner), making the thread into textiles (Loom). Then, the player can roast logs in a kiln to make charcoal. Finally, the player can take the textile and charcoal, and make fireproof blankets at the loom.
Ice Damage
Ice can shatter items in the players inventory unless protected by a Coldproof Blanket, or having enough (+15) cold resistance. Potions tend to shatter first, but anything is at risk.
The player can make a coldproof blanket by deconstructing trash with a hammer, weaving the pieces into thread (Spinner), making the thread into textiles (Loom). Then, the player needs chunks of soil (ice), which are found from mining down ice blocks in winter or in the snowfields.
Acid Damage
Slimes and other creatures can attack the player with acid damage, weakening their armor. Each - point on armor lowers the pv/dv, and each - point on weaponry lowers the damage and accuracy. This value can go negative, leading to the player being more vulnerable or doing 0 damage on a hit.
It is much easier to prevent acid damage than to cure it.
Acid damage can be prevented with the "Acidproof" trait, or by "Blending" Acidproof liquids with each equipment piece, by middle clicking the potion and selecting "Blend". Be careful not to drink the Acidproof Liquid, as it will do acid damage, thus damaging unprotected gear. Cursed acidproof liquids will also damage gear, so be careful when blending.
Acidproof liquids can be bought from the drug dealer in Port Kapul or vending machines in Aquli Teola, Olvina, or Derphy.They can also be found in Nefia on the floor.
Silver is an easy to find material at low levels that has the Acidproof trait innately, so a set of silver equipment can help players early on if they don't have access to potions.
Fixing - marks from equipment involves either using Weapon or Armor shrines in nefia, or Enchant Weapon or Armor scrolls sold occasionally by magic and book vendors. They can fix any number of negative levels on equipment, but can only increase to +2 (+3 if blessed).
What are Furniture Tickets?
Furniture tickets are items that you can exchange for ANY item inside the same-named town, for a certain number of tickets. Expensive, valuable, or important items may take more than smaller items like decorations. The player uses them by grabbing them (right click) from your inventory, and while one tile adjacent to the item you want, using them (right click) on the item. Mousing over an item while holding the furniture tickets should tell you the cost (in tickets) of what you're trying to trade for. The player can get more tickets by trading influence, which is gotten from questing and investing in the related town, at the secretary for said town.
Why won't Farris use the Lute in her inventory?
Villagers do their jobs based on what items are placed in towns, not by what items they have in their inventory. Place the lute on the ground by middle clicking it in your inventory, then "grab as furniture" and placing it somewhere.
Your citizens will path between their beds and whatever room they're designated to work at during the day, generally near the related sign or item they need to work. Citizens will not perform their jobs without a bed, and their bed determines the efficacy of the duties they carry out. Check out the Resident Board to see what jobs you have going on in your settlement. If you see one you don't like, Farris has a way to whip your citizens into shape with the "Whip of Love" item.
