Delicate, frail and fleeting, fairies boast higher magical prowess, evasion, and unmatched speed compared to humans. They hold high resistance to nearly all elements. However, their physical fragility limits them from wearing gear heavier than 1s, making bolstering defenses a challenge. A single substantial attack could place them in peril.

Overview
Diminutive, otherworldly beings. They have an intrinsic connection with magical forces, and even the rare few who shun magic can count on their keen senses and charming appearance. Their fragile bodies make them prey to anything that could catch them, but catching a fairy is no easy task. Players seeking to be less fragile casters should consider being an elea, nefu or lich instead.
Because of their high speed and mana, as well as their low life score, fairies may be considered the ultimate glass cannon race, focused on magically blasting away foes before they have a chance to act, or disabling those that are too bulky to be taken down quickly. While they receive bonuses to DV and Perfect Evasion for physical attack, they are an innately unreliable form of defense.
Fairies are considerably improved from how they were in Elona. While they are slightly slower than they were compared the baseline of a Yerles, they have gained innate levitation and Elemental Damage Reduction, which reduces the damage of any elemental attack in Elin, and the way resistances factor into damage now make them much stronger than their Elona resistances. Furthermore, the stamina-based fatal hit protection mechanic introduced in Elin allows fairies to survive death blows so long as they have stamina, making their play somewhat more forgiving. Nevertheless, while fairies are more kindly treated in Elin than in Elona, they should still not be up in harm's way.
One might consider fairies to be good at ranged combat given their dexterity and perception scores, but finding suitable weapons for them are a problem given the equipment weight limit of 1s. Ether is a high-damage material suited for fairies, but difficult to come by. It's of note that throwing weapons are not limited by the 1s weight limitation, so that is an option.
As shown above, a fairy's greatest problem is the 1s equipment weight limit. This limits acquisition of PV since many high-PV materials also have high weight modifiers. Flying scrolls do nothing to solve the problem as they also reduce PV or damage of the item by the same proportion as the weight removed. It's best for the fairy to never take the damage in the first place, either by crippling an enemy's ability to attack or having an ally intercept the blow instead, either as a parasite or as a mount. However, it must be noted that most mounts are slower than a fairy, leading to a loss of one of a fairy's greatest strengths. Having a taunting ally can keep enemies from targeting a fairy.
Suggested Classes
Fairies are tailor-made for pure caster archetypes. Their extreme physical weakness bars them from even hybrid classes. However, the executioner, who uses mana as a second heart and becomes stronger as his strength decreases, is an exceptionally good match for the fairy.
- Wizard
- Witch
- Inquisitor
Lore and Trivia
- Fairies are not humans, so eating human flesh does not increase their insanity or risk gaining the cannibalism feat. However, eating fairy corpses does count as cannibalism for them.
