The attacks of players and NPCs are assigned some kind of element, and each element activates a corresponding additional effect.

Elemental damage and effects can be nullified by increasing the corresponding resistance.

Element List

Basically, physical attacks do not have these elements. For this reason, physical attacks are sometimes referred to as “Void element”.

  • Elements marked with “△” in the Additional Domains column can only be selected as Mage Guild perks by players with Magic Mastery feat.

Overview

Elemental Resistance

Elemental damage can be reduced by the resistance of that element.

Resistance is divided into stages, with each stage being a multiple of 5, ranging from Defect (-10 or less) to Immunity (+20 or more).

The efficacy of the resistance changes depending on which stage you have reached, so it is important to reach a multiple of 5 when adjusting your resistance.

  • Elemental Damage Reduction attribute of some races and ★Artifacts reduce all elemental damage.
  • Wet reduces Fire damage and increases Lightning damage.
  • Magic Resistance reduces all elemental damage apart from resistance to magic element damage.

Elemental Effects

Most elemental attacks have additional effects such as status abnormality or item destruction.

The rate of additional effects varies from element to element and from spell and abilities to abilities.

  • In the case of spell and abilities, the rate of additional effects increases in the order of Touch > Bolt = Breath > Ball > Arrow = Intonation > Miasma > Sword.

The additional effects of each element do not occur when the damage is 0. However, if one has faith in Kizuami of Trickery, the additional effect will be given even if the damage is 0.

  • This specification is important when dealing with his artifacts. See individual pages for details.

Domains

Characters will be assigned elemental domains at generation according to class.

Attack spells of the player's domains will be considerably more likely to spawn as loot or in shop inventories. This weighting only applies to attack spells and not healing or support spells.

Superior elements

Monsters with “Elder Race” feat, such as dragons, can deal with superior elements, and their elemental attacks treat the target's resistance as one level lower.

Sword spell and arrow spell enhanced by the Sagittarius feat of Centaur also possess the effect of piercing through resistance.

Therefore, even characters that have reached Immunity (+20 or more) will still take damage. Note that resistance-piercing effects cannot reduce an opponent's resistance to 0 or below (below weakness).

(Also unimplemented so far, but according to an announcement by the creator, a unique effect will be implemented for each superior element.)

Fire

In addition to increasing resistance to “Superb Resistance (+15)” or higher, item destruction can be prevented by fireproof blankets, as well as materials that are innately fireproof.

The fireproof liquid that existed in Elona does not exist in Elin.

The three elements of Fire, Cold, and Lightning are sometimes referred to as “elemental resistance/damage".

Other traits

  • Certain ingredients are cooked and transformed into dishes when destroyed by fire element attacks. The quality of the finished dish increases with the strength of the attack. (See Cooking)
  • The wet status reduces fire damage by 30% and protects items from fire. This is a unique effect that differs from increased resistance.
  • Meteor has the effect of generating a fire pillar at the area of impact.
    • The fire pillar burns and destroys installed items and turns walls and floors into ash floors/walls.
    • Digging through the ash floor/wall will yield a chunk (resource) made of the material before it burns. This can be used to obtain chunk made of materials that are not normally available.
    • Fire pillars can be extinguished by throwing potions at them or by pouring water on them with a watering can.
    • Note that the pillar of fire will not rise when the floor is covered with water or snow.

Item destruction can be prevented with coldproof blankets and Norland's Race Feat (From North), in addition to increasing resistance to “Superb Resistance (+15)” or higher.

The trait of elemental reduction by Magic Resistance is as follows, and this effect differs from Resistance in that the reduction rate varies in increments of 1.

Reduction rate = 100/ (100 + 5 x Magic res) 

The maximum reduction rate is 1/3 (reached at magic resistance +40), and the minimum damage increase factor is 2x when magic resistance is negative.
