Each weapon has a faction effect, which affects not only the player, but also pets and inhabitants of lands belonging to the player's faction; the faction enchantments are effective regardless of which member of the faction wields it. However, the faction effect only works if the player has faith in the deity corresponding to the artifact. Faction effects on artifacts disappear when the player converts, and are restored if the player returns to the faith.
