Blacksmith allows a player to create metal and electronic furniture, including generators, refrigerators, and other modern-style objects. Aside from ancient weapons crafted on the Anvil, the skill does not allow a player to craft weapons and armor.

Overview

Blacksmith is an important skill to raise, as it allows the player to overcome an important barrier to the player's progress: food production. Blacksmith allows the player to construct sun lamps which allow crops to grow in winter, as well as refrigerators that will prevent food from decaying as long as the base has sufficient electrical power. Obtaining a generator is a difficult task, as is crafting one, but it is an important step in a player's journey.

Training Blacksmith

Early Game

Ores can be difficult to find and mine at an early level, let alone amass enough to quickly advance one's Blacksmith skill. Fortunately, there is a solution: Machinarium Nefia. Machinarirum Nefia are dungeons which resemble factories with conveyor belts, chemical spills, electrical lighting, and metal walls and flooring constructed out of copper scrap. With sufficient mining or digging skills (12 Mining with a basic Granite Pickaxe), the players can mine/dig up the environment for materials.

Once sufficient scrap has been collected, the player can begin creating Bolts at the Blacksmith Table at the player's home, then disassembling them with a hammer for crafting experience when their scrap supply has run out. Some bolts will be destroyed rather than converted to scrap (with the amount saved varying depending on the level of the player's Hearthstone), but recycling the bolts for further Blacksmith training can be more efficient than selling them or finding another Machinarium Nefia.
