The Goddess of Nefu who adores song and dance. She receives widespread support across species for her maternal yet ephemeral visage. In ancient times, she joined forces with her cherished brother Kizuami, wielding a pair of sacred blades to sever the body and soul of Yufu, a traitor who sided with the Gods of Negentropy. Her silhouette, performing a sword dance beneath the moonlight, is a vision of tragic beauty that has inspired countless plays.

Overview

She'll be both your mother and your wife~

Horome is the spellblade goddess, her bonuses tailored towards those who seek to pursue both martial and magic paths. The magical beauty of her silhouette lends itself to magic and charisma-based spells; she grants long sword bonuses for better melee performance, while casting bonuses help offset cast chance penalties from heavy equipment, shields and the like. Oddly enough, she's suitable as a goddess for performers due to her being the only deity to grant bonuses to music, and darkness resistance is useful for fighting many undead monsters.

Mana Drain

Horome's passive ability of draining mana when attacking in melee means that players are encouraged to mix up melee and magic in their playstyles; so long as you can keep fighting, you can keep casting, and hopefully you'll cast some spells to keep you fighting. The amount of mana drained seems to be proportional to damage dealt, and grants immense amounts of sustain in drawn-out combats against monster houses or heavy-duty enemies like big daddies.

Headpat

Headpat ability, differs from the standard Cuddle command in that it can be used on any human or creature. It also slightly increases affinity, making it useful for recruiting NPCs without gifts or love potions, or as a backup when those options are exhausted. Additionally, as a sort of bonus, using it on any ally grants a small buff of “Euphoric” to all other allies. Like the standard Cuddle command, Headpat also has the effect of causing the petted target to very rarely spawn milk or egg.

Apostle

The fox maid starts off weak, but eventually grows to become the tankiest apostle in the game with an impressive 200 life and boosted magic, dark and holy resistances. True to Japanese myth, each additional tail takes an exponentially increasing number of experience to gain, so you'll need to invest in her for the very long haul.

Misaki

Misaki, the Priestess of Horome, has the same Celestial Fox ability as the apostle, but as she does not count as an apostle, it is possible to include her in the same party with two apostles of other gods. She shares the same trait of only being powerful after very long term investment.

Muramasa

As a faction effect, Muramasa adds mana absorption and additional Nether damage to attacks. This allows Horome followers to absorb more MP with their attacks. Benefits available only to the equipped person include enhanced critical and spells, a human bane, and resistance to fire, nerve, and chaos, making it the perfect weapon for Horome believers who use both melee combat and spells.

How to gain piety

Horome accepts Corpses, Long Swords, Rods, Rice cake, Round rice cake, Sake, Sake barrel and Cookie as offerings. Of these, the sake barrel is the easiest to gain piety, because it is heavy and valuable.

Sake barrels can be found in Nefu Village, and if you raise your carpentry skills and learn the recipe, you can craft them yourself.

If you don't have the recipe for the sake barrel, you can make sake in a brewing barrel, or purchase rods from from magic stores. These are the next best options.

Incidentally, as a special feature when converting from Kizuami to Horome or vice-versa, the player does not receive a conversion penalty, and in addition, they can retain half of their piety from before the conversion. If you want to switch between the faiths of both siblings ending in Horome, you could try gaining piety with Kizuami first before converting to Horome.

Lore and Trivia

Horome of Moonshadow is a backer god.
At implementation, Kizuami had red fur and Horome had white fur. However, due to requests from backers, Kizuami is now white and Horome is now red.
