Elin:Race/Golem

(Redirected from Elin:Golem)

Golems are materials imbued with life through magical means. Compared to other races, they boast vastly superior physical strength. However, perhaps as a trade-off, their mana and speed are notably inferior. Golems have a strong resistance to poison, are immune to bleeding, and possess the advantage of not succumbing to a state of being dazed.

Overview

Artificial constructs brought to life through magic. They have been imbued with tremendous resilience and strength, and their artificial forms protect them from the weakness of flesh, but their own components make them sluggish in both mind and body.

The Golem is the ultimate mighty glacier choice for a character. They boast the highest life score, Physical Damage Reduction and constitution of all player races, in addition to excellent starting values and potentials in strength and willpower. On the downside, they suffer very low scores in all other stats, making them the physical counterpart to fairies. Their artificial natures grant them immunity to the poison and cut elements, as well as to the dim and bleeding statuses. However, this comes with a weakness to lightning damage. In addition, they are negatively compensated for Physical Damage Reduction, taking 15% more elemental damage than the normal race.

Poison element is commonly found in spiders, wasps, snakes, while cut resistance is useful when engaging in close combat with mechanical monsters or spiky monsters such as hedgehog. Cut resistance is rare , and there is almost no way to acquire it other than through this feat.

Light Eater feat increases the amount of fullness gained from eating. The ability to become full more easily than other races may be helpful at the beginning of the game when food is scarce, but since eating is also an opportunity to increase attributes, reducing the frequency of meals will be disadvantageous in the long run. In order for golems to eat efficiently, it is necessary to pay attention to the nutrition of food and their fullness.

Riding can help compensate for a golem's low speed, and if a golem insists on practicing magic there are some workarounds to having mana even worse than a snail's. Worshipping Horome grants a steady flow of MP from fighting in melee, and binding spell talismans to a weapon through the calligraphy set does not require MP at all. If you can overcome the MP problem and use spells, the Cut, Nether, and Holy spells are suitable for the golem, because they are rooted in strength, endurance, will, which golems do decently in. If a golem does practice magic, then dim immunity is helpful because the primary effect of the status is to severely penalize cast chances.

Lore and Trivia

  • According to one Palmia Times article, Eulderna is known for its golems, as opposed to Yerles' explicitly non-magical automata, but these are a different monster (race: machine) from player's golem.
  • Since the golem is not a human, eating human flesh does not increase its insanity level. Instead, the probability of getting cannibalistic feats is also reduced.
  • The Golem is a tall race, so it is not prevented from moving by cobwebs.
