Elin:Symbiosis

Symbiosis allows a pet to "ride" you. (Think Venom from Spider-man). This causes you to both occupy the same tile, and causes your symbiote to gain some of your bonuses or penalties to speed. However, this comes at a cost of accuracy and cast failure chance for both characters, as well as a reduction in speed if your Symbiosis level is low. All these penalties can be at least partially mitigated with higher levels of Symbiosis. Another major benefit is that enemies tend to target the player over their symbiote. This means that an ally with low defenses can be protected.

From preliminary testing, a symbiote gains half of your bonuses or penalties to speed. So if you gain Haste for +32 speed, your symbiote will gain +16 speed. If you are afflicted with Slow, reducing your speed by 50, your symbiote will suffer -25 speed.

• If you are both riding and hosting, Riding causes your speed to become your mount's speed, however this does not apply to the Symbiote. The symbiote will still use your non-riding speed to calculate its speed modifications.
